Description
Join Shriners Children’s Northern California, the largest Shriners Hospital in the U.S., as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist in Sacramento. This is a full-time, faculty-affiliated position within an all-physician anesthesia team—no CRNAs, no adults, and no weekends.
The practice is 80% orthopedics, 10% burn, and 10% other (urology, plastics) with no cardiac, neuro, or neonatal cases. You’ll work in a freestanding, ACS-verified Level 1 pediatric specialty hospital located on the UC Davis campus, with the option for an academic appointment through UC Davis.
Practice Highlights
Schedule: Monday–Friday | No weekends
Call: Home-based, minimal call-backs | No ER call
Model: All-MD anesthesia group (independent model; do your own cases)
Case mix: Full-spectrum pediatric orthopedics (spine, complex neuromuscular, sports), burn, urology, plastics
Team: 9 core MDs led by Dr. Tumber (Chief) + 2 PRN physicians | Strong retention (most 8+ years)
Setting: On UC Davis campus | Independent Shriners facility | Pediatric-only
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary: Starting around $500K–$627K+ depending on experience

Qualifications
MD or DO degree
BC/BE in Anesthesiology
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship
